My Approach to Therapy
I believe the quality of the relationship with your therapist, one that is understanding, safe, secure and collaborative, is key. I believe we all have the ability to live to our personal potential within the parameters of our unique life circumstances and the situation we are in. And so my theoretical approach is underpinned by a Humanistic/ Existential philosophy.
I believe there is no single theory that can possibly encompass the complexities of the human condition and believe our path to healing and improved well-being is as unique as we are individuals.
This is why I take an Integrative Approach, through which I bring together several therapeutic approaches and theories, fitting the therapy to you and what is best for your unique situation and what you want to achieve.
Integrating Transactional Analysis (TA), Psychodynamic thinking, Interactional, Systemic, Gestalt and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Creative and Experiential Methods.
For couples, my approach is centred around creating a safe space for you to discuss your concerns with mutual understanding, as well as building awareness of what has led to or what is keeping you in stuck patterns of relating or in particular roles, helping you and your relationship to move forward.
